Requesting the office of the Secretary of State to study voting access for sight impaired persons.
whereas, Providing access to voting for all citizens of the state is an important policy goal; and
whereas, The state currently does not provide the means for sight impaired persons to vote without the assistance of other persons; and
whereas, Other state governments provide such unassisted access; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the secretary of state's office is hereby requested to study the issue of providing unassisted voting access to sight impaired persons and to recommend to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance how to best accomplish the goal of providing such access, taking fiscal considerations into account; and, be it
Further resolved, That the secretary of state's office shall report its findings to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance prior to the regular session of the Legislature, 1999.
